People Power

September 6, 2015 by aaabbott

Social media has given power to the people in a way we’ve never seen before. When you buy a washing machine, meal or British crime thriller, you can check out reviews online. Bees are humming in British gardens thanks to the online petitions circulated by change.org (fellow British writer Judy Darley was instrumental in spreading the word – her last book was big on bees!).

Gossip spreads like wildfire on Twitter. On a more serious note, so does news, and even revolution, as we saw in the Arab Spring.

Tripadvisor has become my best friend when I’m looking for a hotel, meal or even something to do in a new city. I’ll repay the favour by posting my thoughts about good experiences – and bad ones.

Do you read book reviews on Amazon and Goodreads? I certainly do, and they colour my buying choices. The best favour you can do for a writer is to tell others about their work, and reviews are a great way of doing that. I’d love more reviews for new crime thriller, The Bride’s Trail – so much so that I’ll put all Amazon and Goodreads reviewers into a prize draw on 30th September! The winner will receive a signed paperback copy of The Bride’s Trail. You could keep it, give it to a friend or even save it for one of those moments when you really need a great gift for a loved one and just can’t think what to buy! The choice is yours.

You have to be in it to win it, as they say, so do post your review on Amazon or Goodreads (or both, for two chances to win!).
